Man attacked while he slept in Airdrie by intruder who then stole car
It's said to have happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning
A man has been assaulted by an intruder who broke into his home before stealing his car.
The attack happened in the early hours of Tuesday in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire.
A 46-year-old man was asleep at home in Ross Drive when he was assaulted by the intruder.
The suspect then stole the keys to his white Audi A6 car and drove off. The car was later found burnt-out in Carluke.
The man was treated at Monklands Hospital for injuries to his face and body before being released.
Detective Constable Clare Cassidy said: "This was a very traumatic experience for the victim who was sleeping in his bed when he was callously attacked, leaving him with injuries that required medical attention.
"I'd like to speak to anyone who may have seen the suspect hanging around the vicinity of Ross Drive in Airdrie around 4.30am on Tuesday June 20 or anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in Stonedyke Road, Carluke, afterwards.''
The suspect is described as white, 5ft 8in, aged 16-20, heavy built with short dark hair. He was wearing a grey, hooded tracksuit.
