Man attacked in Dumbarton

Police are hunting three men who seriously assaulted a 23 year-old in Dumbarton. It happened around quarter to 12 last night and the victim's in a stable condition in hospital.

Police say there isn't much information on the attackers other than they were between 18 and 25 years-old.

The 23 year old was on Stirling Road at its junction with Bellsmyre Avenue in Dumbarton when it happened.

He's now in a stable condition in the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

Following the incident, the three men made off towards Dumbarton Town Centre.

Officers are checking relevant CCTV footage for any additional information on the suspects or the incident.

Detective Constable Geoff McKillop said: “The motive for this attack is unknown and a young man has been injured. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact us. In particular, any motorists with dash cam devices, I would ask them to check their cameras and they may have captured an image which could assist our investigation.”
