Man attacked in board daylight in Airdrie

There is an appeal for information in Airdrie after a man was attacked in broad daylight.

There is an appeal for information in Airdrie aftter a man was attacked in broad daylight.

The 46 year-old was on his way to Morrisons when he was approached by two men in the lane near Adam Avenue and seriously assaulted around 3.35pm on Sunday.

The first suspect is described as being in his mid-20s, white, around 5ft 10 of heavy build with short black hair. He was wearing a black jumper, black jogging bottoms and black Adidas trainers.

The second suspect is described as being in his mid-20s, white, around 5ft of slim build and was wearing a blue tracksuit top, black Adidas joggings bottoms with white Adidas stripes on the side.

Detective Constable Paul James, Coatbridge CID, said: “This was a violent attack on a vulnerable man and we are currently doing everything we can to trace those responsible.

“Officers are currently checking CCTV in the area, however we would ask anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the incident to get in touch with us - you may have information that can help.

“The area would have been busy on Sunday afternoon with many people in Morrisons getting their shopping. Think back? Do you remember seeing anyone matching the descriptions?”
