Man arrested over M8 fatal crash released by police
Three men died in the horror smash near Bishopton
A MAN who was arrested after three men lost their lives in a horror early morning motorway smash has been released without charge.
Manveer Benning, 27, David Paton, 27, and Mark Downie, 31, died in the crash on a stretch of the M8, near Bishopton, Renfrewshire, last Sunday.
The smash involved an Audi Q7, which was afterwards left on its roof in a ditch.
Police arrested a 35-year-old man after the crash, but cops have today confirmed he has been released without any charges.
Emergency crews were called to the site of the smash shortly around 5.05am.
However, the three men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Another five pals - including the driver - were taken to hospital for treatment.
Officers' enquiries into cause of the crash are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 35-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
"He has since been released without charges at this time.
“Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident remain ongoing.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 0860 of 19/09/21.”
