Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Scotland more than 20 years ago have made an arrest in Northern Ireland.

The 39-year-old suspect was detained in Londonderry and taken to Glasgow for questioning.

Twenty-four-year-old Derek Sheerin was found dead in the East End of Glasgow in September 1994.

Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and Police Scotland were involved in the joint arrest operation.

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Harvey from the PSNI's serious crime branch has appealed for anyone with information in Derry to come forward.
