A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a teenager in Helensburgh.

Police were called to a property in the Johnstone Court area of the town in the early hours of this morning after receiving reports of concern for a person. Officers discovered the body of 19 year-old, Kirk Allan, inside.

Police Scotland say the death is being treated as suspicious pending the results of a post-mortem.

Detective Inspector Steve Martin said: “Our thoughts are with the family of Kirk at this very difficult time for them. They have released his photograph and have asked to be left in peace so they can come to terms with what has happened.

“Our enquiries so far indicate that this appears to be an isolated incident and officers are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the death. A police presence will remain in the area while officers work to establish the full circumstances of what has happened.

“Anyone with information that may help with our enquiries, who has not already spoken to officers, is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1006 of Saturday, 25 July, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
