The body of 21-year-old Robert Fleming was discovered at his home in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, on February 7.
Police established that he had earlier been involved in an altercation outside the town's Baker's nightclub.
A 27-year-old man has been arrested more than a week after his death.
He is expected to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
