Russell Findlay, 41, news and investigations reporter at The Scottish Sun, suffered a facial injury in the attack at his home in Glasgow at about 8.45am on Wednesday.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: A 55-year-old man has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with an alleged serious assault on a 41-year-old man in Glasgow.
The 41-year-old was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and was released after treatment for a facial injury.
