Police have arrested a 25 year-old man in connection with around £2,000 of alcohol being stolen from a supermarket in the centre of Glasgow.

The store reported 16 incidents of thefts and staff being abused between the 8th and 30th of this month.

He'll appear in court tomorrow.

Sergeant Andy Muir said: “These shopliftings resulted in the premises losing a significant quantity of product, but more importantly, left the staff working at the time of each incident feeling unsafe and that is totally unacceptable.

“Tackling shoplifting and other forms of retail crime is a priority here in the city centre and local officers continue to work alongside Retail Crime Taskforce colleagues to identify offenders and bring them to justice.”
