Man admits killing young dad in Rutherglen

A man has admitted killing a young dad in Rutherglen.
Daniel McCafferty, 33, faced an allegation of murdering Steven Campbell in Rutherglen in June this year.
It 's claimed McCafferty repeatedly drove a van at Mr Campbell, hit him before dragging the 27 year-old along the ground.
His QC Tony Graham today offered a guilty plea to a reduced and amended allegation of culpable homicide.
But this was rejected by prosecutors during a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.
It means McCafferty will now stand trial for murder in the New Year.
The charge alleges he struck Mr Campbell with the vehicle causing him to fall.
The dad is said to have become trapped under the van.
McCafferty then allegedly continued to drive and dragged him along a number of streets in Rutherglen.
McCafferty faces a separate attempted murder charge as well as an accusation of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Lady Stacey set a trial for January next year.
