Police went on to find 17 sick photos on his mobile phone.
It also emerged he had used Google to search for child porn.
The 39 year-old admitted at Glasgow Sheriff Court to possessing indecent images.
His bail was continued pending sentencing next month.
The court heard police got a tip off that Gilles had uploaded photos of children to Twitter.
Officers later swooped on his home - he was initially not there.
But, when he turned up, his Samsung phone was seized.
Prosecutor Alistair Shaw said: "It contained 17 images with children between the ages of five and 15.
"They were in a folder called 'screenshots'."
Despite the discovery, sick Gilles made no comment.
Sheriff Alayne Swanson put Gilles on the sex offenders list meantime.
