A man has been accused of striking a man on the head with a saw and attempting to gouge out his eyes.

David Cardwell, 33, allegedly committed the attacks in Glasgow's Kelvinbridge and Calton on January 23 2022.

Court papers state Cardwell, of the city's Cathcart, while acting with another person, assaulted Richard Collins.

It is claimed Cardwell repeatedly struck Mr Collins on the head with a saw and struggled with him.

The indictment goes on to say Cardwell seized hold of his body and dragged him around.

Cardwell is sent to have seized hold of Mr Collins' neck and compressed it before attempting to gouge out his eyes.

Cardwell, who represented himself, pled not guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to Mr Collins' severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

A further hearing has been fixed for the end of the month by Sheriff John McCormick.
