Detective Constable Leane Holmes said: "This was a violent assault that has left the victim with a serious facial injury and it is important that we trace the person responsible.
"Officers have been carrying out inquiries locally, including examining CCTV, however I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious.''
