A large-scale search, involving mountain rescue and coastguard teams, is being carried out in Argyll for a missing woman.

Crystalla Dean, 52, was last seen by her daughter at her home in Longsdale Crescent, Oban, at around 8pm on Thursday.

She was reported missing the following day after failing to return to the property.

Police Scotland said extensive inquiries involving officers and specialist police resources have already been carried out, but attempts to find her have so far proved unsuccessful.

The search for Ms Dean was taking place on Saturday with Police Scotland's mountain rescue team, the coastguard and the local mountain rescue team involved.

Officers are also seeking information from the public to help with their hunt.

Ms Dean is described as white, around 5ft 1in, with a slim build and curly dyed-blue hair. She may be wearing a red top, jeans and boots.

She has pet dogs and normally walks them in a wooded area known locally as The Witches.

The force said the missing woman has recently been dealing with some personal issues and her family just want to know she is safe and well''.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Oban police office on 101.
