Object thrown through car windscreen from M9 bridge

A motorist on the M9 narrowly escaped injury after their windscreen was shattered by an object thrown from a bridge.

The car's occupants were unhurt but showered with glass in the incident in the Stenhousemuir area.

Their Vauxhall Astra was travelling towards Grangemouth under the Moss Road Overbridge on the M9 when it was hit by the object.

Police in Forth Valley are appealing for information following the incident at around 7.45pm on Friday September 29.

Constable Ray Crossan said: “Whoever was responsible for this serious and reckless act could have caused serious injury to the persons within the vehicle below and other motorists and we are keen to hear from anyone who can help us identify those responsible.

“At this time we do not know what the object was that was thrown from the bridge and so anyone who can provide us with information relevant to our ongoing inquiries is asked to contact police immediately.''

The driver was able to pull over following the incident.
