Pedestrian death closes the M80
The person was hit by a lorry on the motorway near Stirling
A pedestrian has died after being hit by a lorry on a motorway.
The collision happened on the northbound carriageway of the M80 about two miles south of Stirling at about 3.45am on Thursday.
The northbound carriageway has been closed while a crash scene investigation is carried out.
Diversions are being put in place.
Police Scotland advised motorists to avoid the area if possible as congestion was expected.
During the morning peak the congestion reached as far back as Cumbernauld.
