Drivers using the M8 through Glasgow in the evenings are facing weeks of disruption and delays with one side of the Kingston Bridge being closed every night until at least the end of January.

The road is being closed westbound between J19 Anderston Cross and J22 Plantation between 20:00 and 06:00 to allow engineers to undertake repairs to the expansion joints on the crossing which is now over 50 years old.

The works will be happening nightly until 30th January and will then switch to the eastbound carriageway.

Diversion route

Drivers will be diverted off at J19 onto the Clydeside Expressway and directed via Finnieston Street, Govan Road, Paisley Road West and Seaward Street to rejoin the motorway.

The works will also mean the closure of the on ramps at Waterloo Street and Newton Street as well as access from the eastbound Clydeside Expressway onto the Kingston Bridge.

Traffic officials in Glasgow are warning delays can be expected on the diversion route and also on roads which cross the diversion route.
