Police name Glasgow man killed on the M74

The accident happened on Saturday morning

A pedestrian who died after being struck by a lorry on the M74 in Glasgow at the weekend has been named as 39-year-old Ben Miller, from the city.

The incident happened near to the on-ramp from Polmadie, Junction 1A, around 11.35pm on Saturday, 3 June.

Family in shock

A statement from Ben’s family and released by Police Scotland said: “We are deeply shocked at Ben's sudden passing.

“Ben leaves behind a close family and many loving friends, and we are very grateful for all the messages of love and support that we have received.

“We ask that our wishes for privacy at this difficult time are respected.”

Sergeant John Houston, Glasgow Road Policing, said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Miller’s family and friends at this time.

Appeal to witnesses

“I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area and may have seen what happened who hasn’t yet spoken to police to contact 101, quoting reference number 5187 of 3 June, 2023.”

“We are continuing with our enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
