A report on whether a multimillion pounds development should be built on the banks of Loch Lomond is due to be published today.

The Director of Planning for the National Park will release his recommendation on the project, put forward by the owners of Flamingo Land.

They want to build a tourist resort near Balloch with a retail park, apartments and a hotel.

The planning application has been met by strong public opposition. Locals do not want to see the development go ahead and have raised concerns about infrastructure and ruining the natural landscape.

They have been supported by Green MSP Ross Greer and earlier this year submitted more than 55,000 individual objections to the planning application.

The report is due to be released this morning is expected to be lengthy but the conclusion will just be a recommendation.

The board will make its final decision on September 24th.
