Man fighting for life after Strathclyde Park loch swim
A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being rescued from the loch at Strathclyde Park near Motherwell.
Officers say the unidentified man, described as being in his late 40s or early 50s, was sunbathing on his own on Monday afternoon before entering the water at Goose Beach.
He got into difficulty and was recovered from the water by members of the public at around 3.25pm.
Emergency services attended and he was taken to Wishaw General Hospital, where he remains.
Police Scotland said on its Lanarkshire Police Division Facebook page, it had "not received any reports of a missing person matching the man's description and he remains unidentified''.
The man is described as 5ft 9in, of slim build and with medium-length brown hair which is greying.
He also has a tattoo of a small cross on his left arm with three dots above it.
At the time he was wearing a grey zipper, navy top and swim shorts, dark trainers and also had a Tesco shopping bag.
Anyone with information which could help identify the man is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 2284 of Monday June 1 2020.
