A Houston couple are have taken on the task of reopening and revitalising one of the areas' oldest pubs.

Husband and wife Graeme and Karen Finnie have teamed up with Jason Andrews, proprietor of The River Inn in Crosslee, to re-open the Fox and Hounds a local institution which has been in the area since 1779.

The historic coaching inn had been owned by the same family since 1978 but was sold two years ago before falling into administration late last year.

The trio hope to maintain the traditional feel of the pub while offering a modern menu of fresh, local food.

Graeme Finnie, managing partner at French Duncan Chartered Accountants, said: “As long-term local residents, we were dismayed when The Fox & Hounds closed its doors. My wife and I saw a chance to save a local icon, as for many local residents the Fox & Hounds is a large part of the local identity.

“Having secured ownership we were then delighted when Jason Andrews agreed to take over the venue and run it. With Jason as the proprietor, the future of the Fox & Hounds is secure.”

Local restauranteur Jason Andrews said: “I am proud to be involved in the re-launch and running of this famous venue. We already have big plans in store for The Fox & Hounds, including the introduction of an appetising new menu featuring a range of fresh and locally-sourced Scottish produce, including fresh fish and seafood from Loch Fyne and such delicacies as wagyu beef.”
