members of the Glasgow Ski Racing Club were en route to an alpine championships in Italy when their van was targeted near Milan
A group of young skiers from Glasgow are "devastated" after around £15,000 of their kit has been stolen from a van en route to a competition in Italy.
The youngsters from the Glasgow Ski Racing Club had stopped off a service station just outside Milan when their vehicle was targeted on Friday night.
Julie Vinter from the club has been speaking to Clyde News' Chief Reporter Linda Sinclair.
Snowsport Scotland, the national governing body say: "Snowsport Scotland are obviously very concerned about the theft of all of the equipment, and we are concerned too about the impact that this theft will have on athletes, coaches and parents. We have contributed a small amount of funding to help the coaches over the next period of time, and we are hopeful that the Italian Police will be able to find some, if not all, of the equipment lost. This is unlikely to happen over the next few days whilst the racing in Italy is taking place, and we thank the Alpine snowsports community for pulling together to help out the athletes and coaches concerned."
