LISTEN: Tributes Paid To M8 Crash Victim Wayne Who 'Adored' His Family
Tributes have been paid to a 'devoted husband' who died in a serious crash involving a van, two cars and a lorry on the M8.
The family of a man who died after his car burst into flames in a crash with another car, lorry and van on the M8 have paid tribute to him.
Wayne Strickland was 49, worked for West Lothian Council and lived in Inverkeithing. He was sadly killed in the four-vehicle crash on Monday morning between Bathgate and Livingston when he was on his way to work.
Alice McGarry, his sister-in-law spoke to Clyde News about him and you can listen to the interview with our reporter Shiona McCallum here:
Alice said; “Wayne was a great person; nobody had a bad word to say about Wayne and Wayne had nothing bad to say about nobody.
“He was lovely. He cared about his family, looked after his kids and looked after his wife Bernadette who he adored.”
“He was a genuine all-round guy, and all his in-laws, all of us, loved him. Obviously we are all heartbroken. This is such a shock and it’s very hard.”
The police said the exact cause of Mr Strickland's death has yet to be established.
Officers are still appealing for any witnesses to the collision, who have not already spoken to police, to come forward.
A spokesperson for West Lothian Council, where Wayne worked, said:
"Wayne was a very popular and respected colleague and those that worked with him have been left devastated by this tragic news.
“Wayne had worked with West Lothian Council for a number of years and those that had the pleasure to work with him feel very fortunate to have known him as a colleague and friend.
“As a business advisor Wayne worked closely with the local community to help people set up their own companies and his loss will be felt by the wider business community in West Lothian.
“He will be greatly missed and our thoughts and prayers are with Wayne’s family and friends at this very sad time."
