Clyde News is hearing from a vlogger from Strathaven who says the dark side of social media is frightening.

Lucy Flight started filming YouTube videos from her bedroom after she was diagnosed with M.E. which caused her to be bedridden when she was at school.

The 19-year-old now makes a living from posting on various platforms like Instagram and Twitter and has been telling us about some of the trolling she deals with.

"Due to the medication I've been on, I have put on a bit of weight and a lot of people have commented on my videos. I just delete the comments now so it doesn't bother me at all but I have had a lot of comments saying you've put on weight, your ankles look fat, your stomach looks fat, you look pregnant. It's ridiculous."

She says she has to ignore trolls comments so they don't affect her mental health.

Despite suffering from depression and anxiety, the fashion, beauty and lifestyle vlogger is determined to keep vlogging and enjoy her glamorous life-style. She thinks jealousy is one of the main reasons people post negativity.

"There's a lot of talent on social media but there's also a lot of pressure to look amazing. There's a lot of jealousy out there. I'm obviously very fortunate to have the life-style I have, it's so exciting and I get lots of opportunities. I'd be jealous if I was someone else."

The social media star says she does compare herself to other YouTubers, but doesn't let that affect her either.

"I think it's a case of being confident in your own ability,as any other career. It's about realising they're different to me, putting out different content to me and so it's important to stay on your own path."
