MP Siobhain McDonagh has written to the Home Secretary Theresa May about the death of Asad Shah.
It is two weeks since the killing of popular shopkeeper Asad Shah in Shawlands left the country in shock.
The 40-year-old was stabbed at his store on Minard Road on the South side of Glasgow, which sparked an outpouring of grief from locals for a man they described as a true gentleman with a heart of gold.
Yesterday Tanveer Ahmed, 32, from Bradford appeared in court for a second time accused of his murder.
He issued a bombshell statement through his lawyer claiming responsibility for killing Mr Shah.
He said he took Mr Shah's life because he disrespected Islam and had claimed to be a Prophet.
MP Siobhain McDonagh has written to the Home Secretary Theresa May asking for an urgent meeting about protecting for the Ahmadiyya community that Mr Shah was part of.
During the police investigation officers claimed the incident was "religiously prejudiced" and confirmed both men were Muslims.
Mr Shah was an Ahmadiyya Muslim, a group known for its non-violence and interfaith concerns.
