Published 18th Dec 2015

The family of Dennistoun man John Murphy who went missing over seven months ago are facing Christmas without him.

His son, also named John, has been making an emotional appeal for the dad-of-five to come back home in time for Christmas.

He's been speaking to our reporter Lizzie Parker:

The family are asking people to keep an eye out for the 52-year-old as they believe he is still out there.

Over a hundred sightings have been reported to police and recently here were a number reported in Irvine but none have come to anything.

Recently the CID were brought in to investigate but no further progress has been made.

John Murphy left his home in Craigpark Drive in Dennistoun, Glasgow, at around 7am on May 12 and was heading towards Duke Street to catch a bus to work.

He did arrive at work and was reported missing by his family that evening.

Mr Murphy is around 5ft 8in and of medium build, with short brown hair which is turning grey. He is normally clean shaven and is believed to have been wearing a cream polo shirt, black cargo trousers, black work boots and a black fleece jacket when last seen.
