LISTEN: Lennon's Gran calls for a memorial swingpark
Plea for makeshift car park where he died to be turned into somewhere for kids to play safely
The grandmother of 5 year old Lennon Toland, who was knocked down and killed in the east end of Glasgow has begun an online petition for a swingpark to be built on the spot where the tragedy happened.
Karen Pearson posted a picture of the temporary car park in Dalness Street on on the Change.org site and wrote: "My 5 year old grandson Lennon Toland was killed at this spot last Monday the 12th September 2016.
"He was 5 years old and was picking up stones as he often did on his way home from school.
"He should have been perfectly safe at this spot but instead he lost his life.
"We want this made into a swingpark in memory of Lennon as he loved swingparks.
"It would also give us and other kids a place to sit and remember him instead of walking by and remembering the horrific images of Lennon lying there.
"Pls help make this happen."
Thousands of people have added their name in support of the plans so far.
Karen Pearson's been speaking exclusively to our reporter Shiona McCallum about her grandson's character:
Glasgow City Council told Clyde News they are aware of the online petition, but would not comment due to the ongoing investigation into Lennon's death.
