LISTEN: Irvine Welsh on books, Trainspotting sequel and swearing

The author kick-started his promotional tour for his latest novel by attending Dumbarton Library ahead of West Dunbartonshire's annual Booked! Festival

Cult writer Irvine Welsh has returned to Scotland to promote his latest novel, The Blade Artist.

At Dumbarton Library he talked about the book which revisits the life of Francis Begbie, who featured in his first book Trainspotting.

The sequel to the film version of the cult book starts filming in Scotland this summer with the original cast including Ewan McGregor, Robert Caryle and Kevin McKidd.

He spoke to our Chief Reporter Linda Sinclair.
