Two sexual assaults at a hospital in a month are being investigated.

Two sexual assaults at a hospital in a month are being investigated.

The first incident happened on Thursday December 18 at Glasgow Royal Infirmary where a 27-year-old woman was assaulted.

The second attack took place on a 24-year-old woman at the same hospital on Wednesday this week.

Police said inquiries are continuing into both incidents. It is not known if the attacks are linked.

Health workers union Unison has urged staff at the hospital to be extra vigilant and called on employers to provide specific personal safety advice.

Branch secretary Cathy Miller said: In the absence of any formal advice to staff, Unison felt it was important that we let our members know that we are aware of the issue and are pressing for action.

We would urge staff to be extra vigilant; where possible to travel to and from work with colleagues; to report any suspicious behaviour to your line manager and local security, and, if appropriate, to record any specific concerns about safety in the datex system.''
