Greater Maryhill Foodbank has reopened today after suddenly closing last week due to "unforseen circumstances".

The foodbank's co-ordinator Julie Webster says they made the decision so they could focus on working out the future of the organisation - which has been marred in controversy after Glasgow City Council decided to withdraw any future funding last year following an investigation into its finances.

She's been talking to our reporter Lizzie Parker:

A Glasgow City Council spokesman said: “We received a whistleblowing complaint regarding the foodbank last year. During the subsequent investigation, the organisation failed to provide information, documentation and explanations sought by the council.

“After reviewing evidence, the Head of Audit recommended that the council does not make any further payments to the foodbank.”

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed there is an ongoing investigation after a complaint about donations to the charity last year.
