LISTEN: Campaigners to go ahead with Roosh V protest despite cancellation
Glasgow campaigners say they're still planning to go ahead with a protest against a controversial "pick-up" artist - despite the fact he's cancelled all his supporters' meet-up around the world.
There was outcry against a planned meeting of Roosh V's fans in George Square with over 55,000 people signing a petition calling to stop him "being allowed to promote his hateful violent views in our cities."
Vonny Moyes, one of the organisers of the event has been speaking to our reporter Lizzie Parker:
The day before cancelling the more than 40 planned events across the world, the controversial American author hit back at his critics in the city.
He wrote: "I've received more threats from Glasgow than anywhere else combined. Is it some kind of convict resettlement zone?"
He's previously been accused of condoning rape for comments made on a blogpost on his website.
The counter protest will still go ahead this evening despite the cancellations but organisers say it will be a "non-violent and peaceful celebration of equality".
