Around 300 pupils at Kilbowie Primary School evacuated after bomb threat phone call made this morning

Around 300 pupils from a primary school in Clydebank had to be evacuated earlier after a bomb scare.

Police and the fire service were alerted after Kilbowie Primary received a call about a device at around 11.30 am this morning.

The youngsters were taken to the nearby Hub Community Centre on Kilbowie Road for their safety as emergency services searched the school.

Police chiefs at the scene told Clyde News no bomb was found and it was a hoax.

It comes after a number of other similar hoaxes at schools across Glasgow and the West and the UK as a whole.

Our Chief Reporter Linda Sinclair spoke to mum Laura Walker who says it was frightening to get a text about it.

West Dunbartonshire Council say:

"Police and Fire Services are on site at Kilbowie Primary School due to an ongoing incident.

"We have taken precautionary measures to ensure the safety of all our children. Parents have been informed. We will continue to update as soon as further information is available."

Police Scotland say:

"Police were called to an incident believed to be a malicious call at a school in West Dunbartonshire at 12 noon. A search was carried out in conjunction with the local authority and pupils have returned to school. Enquiries are continuing."
