Linwood Stairwell Attack Was 'Attempted Murder'
A violent attack on a man in a stairwell is being treated as attempted murder, police said.
The 26-year-old was assaulted by two men in a common close in Stirling Drive, Linwood, Renfrewshire, at around 9.50pm on Thursday.
He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he is being treated for serious injuries to his face and body. Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.
The men, who ran off after the attack towards Vernon Drive and then Pentland Drive, are both described as white and aged between 18 to 23. They were both wearing dark hooded tops.
One of them is around 6ft with a stocky build and short fair hair while the other is around 6ft 2in with a very slim build. Detective Sergeant Ally Semple said: This was a particular violent attack which has left this young man with serious injuries. We are still trying to establish a motive for the attack and are appealing for the assistance of the public in an attempt to identify the men responsible.
I'd like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Stirling Drive and may have witnessed a disturbance there.
I'd also like to speak to anyone who may have seen the culprits running away from Stirling Drive or anyone who recognises their descriptions.''
