She rose to fame as a child star in the 1930s and was the last surviving British dance band singer.
Former Radio Clyde DJ Tony Currie is remembering her as a woman who was full of energy and stamina in her later years.
He said: "She carried on performing for a long time after she became famous and then discovered a new career as a disc jockey on Radio Clyde as Aunty Mary Lee.
"She was such a professional that she even went to the extent of taking lessons in broadcasting in order to do the show properly.
"I think that was the mark of the woman and whatever she did she did very well."
Mary was married to Jack Milroy, half of the famous Scottish double act Francie and Josie, in which Milroy played Francie and Rikki Fulton was Josie.
In 1986 the couple recorded an interview together with Radio Clyde's Sheila Duffy.
She was well loved by Radio Clyde listeners, young and old, during her time at the station in the early 1990s.
Tony added: "You can't underestimate the power and popularity of having somebody in the age group of the listener.
"In Mary's case, whatever she played she probably knew the performer and that made her unique in that respect.
"I think a lot of younger listeners saw her as their granny because she was clever, funny, witty and warm.
"Those are the things you might wish your granny to be - even if perhaps your real granny wasn't."
