Iconic Dr Who stars Sylvester McCoy and Bonnie Langford are set to appear at this weekend’s Film and Comic Con in Glasgow.

The duo will be joined by an array of famous faces from the sci-fi world at the event taking place at the Braehead Area on the 24th and 25th of August.

Dunoon-born McCoy was the show’s seventh doctor, with Langford playing his companion, Melanie Bush, during its 1980s resurgence.

Event Director, Paul Jones, says McCoy’s presence will be extra special for local fans.

He said: “Sylvester McCoy is, of course, the very first Scottish doctor and fans will get the chance to meet him and take photos with him.

“He will also be giving a talk that will feature a number of his companions from the 1980s series too.”

Langford’s inclusion will also be of particular interest to life-long ‘Whovians’ after she reprised her role as Melanie in the series this year, after a more than three-decade hiatus.

Jones said: “Bonnie has recently returned to Dr Who, with the new Doctor, so this will be one of the first chances fans will get to ask questions and hear about her return to the series after thirty-five years.”

John McVey, a member of the Glasgow Doctor Who Society, is attending this event this weekend and is delighted with this year’s line-up, which features some of the show’s recent cast members too.

He said: “As a Whovian, I'm ecstatic to see Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred, as well as Susan Twist, who was a focal point of the recent series at the event.

“I can’t wait to see them and get the chance to talk to them as well.”

The event is not just for Dr Who fans; it features a plethora of other sci-fi stars from film and television, including William Hope (Aliens and Captain America) and Madeline Smith (The Vampire Lovers and James Bond).

The events feature a Cosplay Zone, where Jones says fans can “get the chance to dress as their favourite characters.”

There will also be a Comic Zone where participants can immerse themselves in the world of sequential art and learn about the creative process behind some of their beloved classics.
