Crimes of offensive weapons carrying are down across Lanarkshire by more than a quarter.
The area has recorded a drop of more than 60 fewer offences against the same reporting period last year - down from 262 to 200.
Total recorded incidents of housebreaking are also down by more than 140, according to Police Scotland’s Quarter 4 Performance Report.
The report shows there were three fewer murders, 33 fewer crimes of fire-raising and a drop of almost 100 recorded reports of handling bladed instruments - down from 459 to 362.

Chief superintendent Alan Waddell, divisional commander, said: “Reductions in crimes are always welcome news for our communities who I hope feel assured by these latest statistics.
“Where we see increases in recorded crime, like indecent sexual assault for example, which is up in line with national picture, this does not always represent an actual rise in the crime itself but can instead represent increased confidence in reporting."
He added: “Lanarkshire’s communities are telling us we are doing well in delivering a consistent service and we are using their feedback to develop our local policing plans to ensure we can maintain that.
“I would encourage them to continue engaging with us, whether that’s talking to officers on the street or using our surveys to give us meaningful insight to help shape local policing.”
