Lanarkshire Man Who Raped Under-Age Girl Dies In Prison

A man who raped a 15-year-old girl at the Lanarkshire rubbish tip he ran has died in prison.

Ronald Adamson was jailed for nine years in 2009 for a number of attacks on under-age girls.

The 15-year-old victim had been sexually abused by him since the age of 12 and another girl was assaulted between the ages of seven and 13.

He put them through the ordeal of a trial after callously claiming they were lying.

The rape took place in August 2005 at a civic amenity centre in Carluke, Lanarkshire. All of the offences he was convicted of were carried out there and at a house in Carluke between 2001 and 2005.

A statement from the Scottish Prison Service said Adamson, 54, died at HMP Glenochil last Wednesday.

It added:”Police Scotland have been advised and the matter will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

“Next of kin have been informed and a Fatal Accident Inquiry may be held in due course.”
