A Lanark man is starting training to crawl like a bear all the way up and down Ben Nevis at the end of August.

Gym owner Craig Curtis will be on his hands and knees to raise funds for the charity Healthy Valleys.

He told Clyde 1: "At the moment, I am pretty average at bear crawling compared to most people.

"I hold a good level of fitness, but this is specific and I need to build up a good level of tolerance.

"I can go for about three or four minutes with no stopping just now and I hope I can increase that."

This is not the first unusual challenge fitness challenge for Craig, last year he ran for 24 hours non-stop around his home town.

Last year he ran around his home town for 24 hours.

The year before he walked the West Highland Way with no shoes or socks.

He added: "I am hoping to set off at 3 o'clock in the morning and reach the summit for around 9 o'clock.

"I will rest at the top before heading back down for mid afternoon, I would like it to take 12 hours, but a whole range of things could go wrong."
