A Lanark man is pushing his body to the limit by taking on a 24 hour running challenge for Remembrance Day.

Craig Curtis is going to run an 800 metre course as many times as he physically can to raise cash for Poppy Scotland.

He told Clyde 1: "I will begin just after the two minute silence at 11 o'clock leaving from our gym Curtis Bros Fitness, down Gallowhill Road past the fire station and turning back up the hill.

"If I am running at normal speed then I can usually complete this distance in as little as four minutes, but I plan to run a lot slower because I want to last for the full duration.

"I won't be stopping and I plan to stay awake."

Craig admits he has not prepared for his 24 hour extravaganza, but he does work out regularly.

He added: "I've not run for more than an hour for a long time and so this is going to be me throwing myself into the deep end here and I am certainly not an ultra marathon runner.

"I just like trying new things to see how my body reacts and I am often inspired when I see other people around the world achieving incredible things."
