29-year old man dies following attack in Kirkintilloch flat

Two men have been charged in connection with the incident and a third man has also been arrested

A 29-year old man has died after being attacked in Kirkintilloch.

It happened around 8am on Saturday 22 August when the man, who has been named as Robert Cunningham, was assaulted within a flat on Braehead Street in the town.

He was taken to hospital but later died on Monday 24 August.

Two men, aged 31 and 28, have been charged in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector Steven Watson, of Kirkintilloch CID, said: "Our thoughts are with Robert’s family and friends at this time.

"Following an investigation led by detectives, we were able to charge two men in connection with this incident."

The two men are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today.

A third man, aged 35, has also been arrested in connection with the incident.
