Two teenagers have been taken to hospital after taking suspected 'legal highs' at an Ayrshire school.

Two teenagers have been taken to hospital after taking suspected 'legal highs' at an Ayrshire school.

Emergency services were called to Kilwinning Academy around 11am this morning and then again a couple of hours later over concerns for a further two pupils.

The 16-year-old boys were taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock after becoming unwell and their condition's not thought to be life-threatening.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said:

"We received a call at 1105 hours today to attend an incident at Kilwinning Acamedy.

"We dispatched two ambulances and a paramedic response unit to the scene.

“Two patients were taken to University Crosshouse Hospital.

“At 1219 hours today, we received another call to attend Kilwinning Academy.

“We dispatched one ambulance.

“Two patients were treated at the scene and declined transport to hospital.

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “We are working with our colleagues in Police Scotland in relation to this issue and are willing to provide support to the pupils and families affected.”
