Investigation after Maryhill break-ins

An investigation is underway after a stranger was found in two Maryhill houses yesterday.

An investigation is underway after a stranger was found in two Maryhill houses yesterday.

In the first incident a woman discovered a man in her home in Collina Quadrant 7.45am - he fled empty handed.

The second incident happened in Burnhouse Place at 8.20am, when a man entered the property and demanded money.

He pushed the 54 year-old homeowner causing her to fall and injure her arm.

He then ran off along Guthrie Street towards Gairbraid Avenue having stolen an electronic device from the address.

The injured woman did not require hospital treatment.

The man responsible for both incidents is described as white, 5ft 8 / 5ft 9 inches in height and of medium build and had a gaunt appearance. He was wearing black clothing - a hooded top, scarf and tracksuit trousers

Detective Constable Marc Stirling from Greater Glasgow Division said: “On both occasions the suspect gained access to the houses and was disturbed by their occupants.

2Officers are following a number of lines of enquiry in relation to these incidents and are urging anyone who witnessed this man acting suspiciously in the local area, or anyone with information that may assist their investigation to contact police.”
