Inverclyde woman shot dead outside her US apartment
A woman originally from Inverclyde has been shot dead outside her apartment in the US. 64-year old Liz Sutherland (also known as Elizabeth Peterson) moved from Port Glasgow to Alabama 5 years ago - having previously stayed in America 10 years before.
She was gunned down outside her Birmingham home on Saturday night as she got out of her car.
It is believed she only moved to that apartment two week ago.
Police have yet to catch the killer or find a motive.
Her sister, Morag Sutherland Donlevy, who now lives in Pennsylvania, took to Facebook to say: 'I read and re-read all the lovely condolences for Elizabeth and I cannot fathom the entire thing.
'My mind wanders to an image that I do not want to see. We believe in the hereafter and I know for sure my sister did. So, in that respect she is safe in the arms of the angels. For me, I am a blank right now.'
