Plans to improve east end of Glasgow by 2030
The Strategic Development Framework aims to make changes to areas like Dennistoun, Calton and Carntyne over the next ten years.
There are plans to improve the east end of Glasgow by 2030, to make it a more vibrant and well-connected place to live.
It's part of a Strategic Development Framework, which will look at ways to make the areas better over the next ten years.
The consultation covers parts of the east end such as Barrowfield, Bridgeton, Calton/Barras, Carntyne, Cathedral Quadrant, Collegelands, Dalmarnock, Dennistoun, the Games Village, Haghill, Parkhead, Shettleston, The Forge and Tollcross,
At the end of the process, the Strategic Development Framework will outline the key priorities, design principles, connections and strategic relationships.
Councillor Kenny McLean, City Convener for Neighbourhoods, Housing, and Public Realm at Glasgow City Council, said: "We would like as many people as possible with an interest in Glasgow’s Inner East to take part in this consultation as this framework will help guide the area’s future development.
'20-minute neighbourhoods'
"By participating, people will help develop the area into the place they’d like it to be."
Michael Ward, principal planner on the spatial strategy team for Glasgow city council, said:
"One of the big drivers for us is the idea of 20 minute neighbourhoods and focused around climate change.
"What we're trying to do is adapt neighbourhoods so people have much more of the services they need within a shorter walking distance.
"We want to understand what daily journeys people need to make, and how do you feel when you get there.
'We want people to tell us their daily experiences of the east end'
"Is it dominated by cars, are there areas that are almost 'no-go' areas?
"We want as part of this conversation people to tell us their daily experiences of the east end and how they see this plan benefitting them."
