Images Released in Rapist Search
Police have released CCTV images in a bid to trace a man who raped a young woman as she walked home from a train station. The 20-year-old victim left Uddingston train station in South Lanarkshire at about 10.15pm on Tuesday March 24, when a man approached her from behind, forced her into a wooded area close to Castle Gate street and attacked her. The man then ran off and the woman immediately contacted police. Officers described the attack as an ''horrendous ordeal'' and have now released two images of a man they believe may be able to assist them with their inquiries. The man is white, aged between 30 and 50, about 5ft 9ins with red hair and red facial hair and was wearing dark clothing with a hood. Detective Inspector Tom Carty, of Police Scotland's Specialist Crime Division, appealed for any witnesses to the incident or anyone who can identify the man to contact police.
