The final two trains from Glasgow subway's iconic 1980s fleet are taking their last loop in the tunnels under the city as they get replaced by modern carriages.

It marks the end of the roll out of 17 new trains which are brighter and quieter.

Eileen McPhail will be behind the controls and told Clyde 1: "I am expecting to see a lot of people coming in to look at them going by.

"Last week, we had our older drivers and former staff members come in to give them the chance to see this fleet for one last time.

"There are aspects to the older trains I prefer. like the fact we could put drop lights down and speak to passengers."

Changing times

Eileen has been whirling around the subway network for 26 years and has seen many changes in that time.

She added: "The colour of the stations have changed since I joined, they used to have old tiles on the walls whereas now they are much brighter.

"I've seen many passengers come and go.

"Of course, these days, we also have the famous sub crawls that come down every Saturday night which we did not have when I first started."
