Hunt for men, one disguised as police officer, after robbery in Ayr

A hunt is underway after a robbery in Ayr.

Three men stole a mobile phone from the house in Somerset Gardens around 8.30pm on Wednesday 2nd October.

They were able to get inside as one of the men was disguised as a police officer. Another was armed with a knife.

Detective Sergeant Jane Hogg of Ayrshire CID says, “I would like to emphasise that members of the public should be extremely cautions when opening their door if they’re not expecting any visitors, even those who purport to be police officers.

“Fortunately no one has been seriously injured as a result of this incident.

“We are encouraging anyone who may have seen any of the three men in or around the area at the time of the incident to get in contact.

“We are also appealing for anyone that may have CCTV or dash cam footage from the surrounding streets.”

The first man was dressed in police uniform, in his early 30s, around 5ft 10, stocky built. He wore glasses and spoke with a Scottish accent.

The second suspect who was in possession of a knife was 5ft 7, in his mid 20s with short black hair and a moustache. He wore a black hoodie and spoke with an English accent.

The third man was smaller, 5ft, and slim. He was around 40 years-old and had a number of teeth missing. He was also wearing a black hoodie and spoke with a Scottish accent.
