More than one hundred bikes have gathered in Motherwell for the funeral of 17 month old Hugh McMahon.

The tot was rushed to hospital on Christmas Even after swallowing a button battery, and died on Boxing Day.

His uncle Jimmy McMahon made an emotional appeal on Clyde News for bikers to act as a funeral escort for the toddler as he is laid to rest today.

Motorbikes were Hugh's favourite thing. His uncle said: "It's good to raise awareness of the dangers of these batteries. A lot of things have them than you'd maybe not realise like thermometers and bath toys.

"The wee guy absoutely adored motorbikes. If he wasn't stopping in the street to watch them then he was watching them on YouTube.

"It'd be really great if we could get a load of bikes out there to help give him his final send off.

"It would really mean a lot to all of us.

"We're also asking if everyone could wear a wee something blue just in memory of wee Hughey."

The appeal was shared hundreds of times on social media.
