Hundreds gather to say goodbye to Glasgow icon Mary Lee

The child star turned radio presenter died aged 100 earlier this month.

Elaine C. Smith and Juliet Cadzow were among showbiz legends who said their final farewell to Glasgow legend Mary Lee this afternoon in Clydebank.

The star rose to fame as a teenager in the 1930s and passed away at the age of 100 earlier this month.

Radio Clyde's George Bowie was there and said: "My dad was friends with Mary and her husband Jack Milroy.

"I always remember them coming down to our house they were loads of fun to be around."

Latterly, Marty turned her hand to radio presenting and had a show on Radio Clyde in the early 1990s.

George added: "Mary was such a glamorous lady with big eyelashes.

"Sometimes big name celebrities could be be quite intimidating, but Mary and Jack were the warmest and nice people.

"Out of all my dad's friends, they were always the ones I looked forward to seeing the most."
