One of the houses nearby Monday’s devastating explosion in the Kincaidston area of Ayr has been demolished, and it’s likely another one or two in the area will follow.
35 homes remain cordoned off as of Thursday afternoon. Some because they suffered damage in the blast and others because of debris or because they’re so close to the house that was destroyed.

Residents in some properties outside the cordoned off area have yet to be allowed home because they’ve been damaged by the explosion or by debris.
In a Facebook post South Ayrshire Council leader Peter Henderson also confirmed there has been no change to the condition of the family injured in the blast.
A couple, named locally as William and Marion Ferguson, and their two boys aged 11 and 16 remain seriously injured in three different Glasgow hospitals.
However a total of 303 properties in Kincaidston have been inspected and deemed safe for residents to return home.

South Ayrshire Council says it’s continuing to work with emergency services to inspect homes and make as many as possible safe, which is a complex exercise.
The council’s building standards team is continuing to carry out individual inspections of all homes in the affected area to assess them for safety and people are being asked not to return home unless they’ve been contacted to say it’s safe to do so.
